About This Role

Responsible for the development and implementation of all electrical maintenance activities at the Processing Plant and providing leadership and support to the technicians in executing assigned tasks in a safe and compliant manner in accordance with applicable safety and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in compliance with the requirements of Government of Ghana agencies, environmental, health and safety legislation, and AGBL’s regulations.
  • Accept personal responsibility for your own health and safety, as well as that of every mine worker affected by your work
  • Participate in maintenance review programs and the Root Cause Failure Analysis for electrical and instrumentation equipment as per requirements.
  • Supervise the execution of electrical installation refurbishment and maintenance works as assigned, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Assist in developing condition monitoring routes and checks for electrical equipment at the processing plant.
  • Maintain fixed plant assets in the Process Plant, including all electrical systems related to crushers, conveyor systems, pumps, ball and SAG mills, vibrating screens and feeders, cranes and hoists, cyclones, and tanks.
  • Assist in implementing efficient automation initiatives or projects..
  • Assist with shutdown co-ordination and execution.
  • Monitor general physical condition of plant assets and report.
  • Fully utilize AGBL’s work management system to plan and execute all tasks.
  • Identify, communicate, and implement potential cost reduction initiatives.
  • Execute work in a timely manner; coordinate refurbishment fabrication work contractors to time plan, escalate real or potential delays.
  • Interact with Contractors regarding Electrical tasks for refurbishment works and planned works that support the overall work plan, schedule and expectations.
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local codes.
  • Manage all electrical and instrumentation documentation; policies, procedures and standards, designs and drawings, handover notes as may be required by Legislation and engineering best practices.
  • Plan layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus.
  • Assist in preparing the yearly budget for the department and managing the budget efficiently.
  • Set performance targets and measures and monitor and manage the overall performance of team members.
  • Mentor and provide technical input into the developmental training of team members.
  • Ensure continued team effectiveness through the selection, development, training, and motivation of a competent team, and ensure effective succession planning.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor or authorized delegate.

Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a related field of study from a recognized institution.
  • Inspecting Engineer’s Certificate of Competency from Minerals Commission of Ghana.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience as Electrical Maintenance Supervisor preferably in a processing plant.
  • Advanced knowledge in Electrical starters: DOLs, VSDs, Soft Starters and liquid resistance starters.
  • Proven competency in the maintenance and project management of Process Plant infrastructure especially refurbishment of Processing Plant.
  • Competent to handle multiple tasks to achieve the required result.
