About This Role
Responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of welds, using specialized equipment, and maintaining a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure relevant Safety, Mining and other statutory Codes and Regulations remain in full compliance at the workplace.
- Operate welding equipment in a safe manner and reports hazards associated with the equipment to area supervisor.
- Follow required procedures and use appropriate jigs and fixtures to assist in the assembling process.
- Set up equipment and weld parts, using arc, or gas-shielded arc welding.
- Assemble various fabrication parts by bolting and riveting and tack parts securely in position for welding.
- Repair parts by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling.
- Maintain a neat, tidy and safe workstation at all times.
- Provide complete and accurate end of shift reports.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor or authorized delegate.
Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies
- Trade/Craft Certification in Welding, Intermediate Parts I,II,&III or a related qualification from a recognized institution
- Minimum of 3 years' working experience in Fixed Plant maintenance.
- Good working knowledge in Arc/ Gas-shielded welding and Fabrication.
- Ability to operate a plasma cutter and acetylene torches
- Physical ability to work and weld in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down, and overhead.
- Ability to weld vertical, flat, and overhead welds with a good penetration and a quality appearance.
- Proven ability to read and interpret standard blueprints/drawings and cut lists.
- Possess adequate craft knowledge and skill to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job.
- Ability to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously and work under pressure.
- Has the skill of quality job execution, and able to plan jobs in coordination with colleagues and other Departments
- Possess a valid Ghanaian Driver’s License with good and defensive driving skills
