About This Role
To ensure the efficient supervision and control of Electrical Maintenance Team by allocating and managing resources (people and equipment) to attain production and engineering objectives.
Formulate and execute electrical maintenance strategies that ensures the continuous growth of the functional activities to maximize operational efficiencies, safety, and profitability that aligns with the organization’s overall goal.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure relevant Safety, Mining and other statutory Codes and Regulations remain in full compliance at the workplace.
- Diagnose and replace faulty electrical and electronic systems, units and components of machinery and equipment.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follow diagrams or blueprints
- Efficiently perform preventive, breakdown, project, refurbishment repairs and assign electrical maintenance staff according to work requirements and priorities.
- Provide accurate data on Work Orders such as man-hours worked, Failure Codes, Failure Analysis and Failure Rectification.
- Report all accidents, unsafe positions, defected equipment, and safety complaints from your section to the HSE representative and participate in Root Cause Analysis of failures.
- Prepare Electrical works estimates, tender documentation etc
- Assist in training new employees by providing instruction on procedures; familiarize new employees with operations and review work assignments in order to orient employee and optimize performance.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor or authorized delegate.
Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or related field of study from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a mining maintenance field.
- Extensive knowledge of site safety, health and environmental regulations pertaining to electrical maintenance in a mining environment.
- Knowledge of electrical machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to distinguish colors used in colour-coding wires and electronic components.\Ability to prepare estimates for any Electrical works
- Proven ability to read and interpret standard electrical blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, parts books and service manuals (including specifications).
- Possess adequate craft knowledge and skill to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job.
- Well-developed English oral, written communications and report writing skills.
